1. Who We Are
Zooper Financial Pty Ltd ("Zooper", "we", "us", "our") operates the Zooper platform at zooper.com.au. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
2. What Personal Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of personal information:
Account and identity information
Name, email address, and authentication credentials provided via Manus OAuth.
Financial and tax information
Business financial data, income and expense figures, Tax File Numbers (TFN), Australian Business Numbers (ABN), and other tax-related information you provide or import from connected accounting software.
Client data (accountant users)
If you use Zooper as an accountant or tax professional, you may upload or enter personal information about your clients, including their names, TFNs, addresses, and financial data. You are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate authority to share this data with us.
Usage and technical information
IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and actions taken within the Platform, collected via server logs and analytics tools.
Payment information
Billing details for subscription payments are processed by Stripe. Zooper does not store full card numbers or CVV codes.
3. How We Collect Personal Information
We collect personal information:
- Directly from you when you register, use the Platform, or contact us;
- From third-party accounting software (e.g. Xero) when you authorise a connection;
- Automatically through cookies, server logs, and analytics tools;
- From payment processors when you subscribe to a paid plan.
4. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Platform and its features;
- Generate financial documents, ITRs, and BAS drafts on your behalf;
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account;
- Process subscription payments and manage billing;
- Send transactional emails (document delivery, status updates, reminders);
- Comply with legal and regulatory obligations;
- Detect and prevent fraud or misuse of the Platform;
- Improve our AI models and document generation quality (using de-identified data only).
We do not use your personal information for direct marketing without your explicit consent.
5. Tax File Numbers (TFN)
The collection and use of Tax File Numbers is governed by the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015. Zooper collects TFNs only where you voluntarily provide them for the purpose of preparing tax documents. TFNs are stored encrypted and are never disclosed to third parties except as required for document preparation or as required by law. You are not obligated to provide your TFN; however, omitting it may affect the completeness of generated documents.
6. Disclosure of Personal Information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers — cloud hosting (AWS), payment processing (Stripe), email delivery, and analytics providers who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- Accounting software providers — when you authorise a connection (e.g. Xero), data is exchanged as necessary to provide the integration;
- Legal and regulatory authorities — where required by law, court order, or regulatory obligation;
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality obligations.
We do not sell personal information to third parties.
7. Overseas Disclosure
Some of our service providers are located overseas, including in the United States (AWS, Stripe, Manus). Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it in accordance with the APPs or an equivalent standard.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. You use the Platform at your own risk.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Financial documents and tax records are retained for a minimum of seven years in accordance with Australian tax law. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, subject to our legal retention obligations.
10. Cookies and Analytics
The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and collect usage analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform.
11. Your Rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations);
- Complain about a breach of the APPs.

12. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the APPs or the Privacy Act, you may lodge a complaint with us at [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
13. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Platform. The updated notice will be effective from the date it is posted.
